Moses McCormick was born February 25, 17931 in what is now Connellsville, Pennsylvania. He was the eldest of four sons born to Sarah Crawford McCormick daughter of William McCormick and Effie Crawford.2 The brothers of Moses were George Crawford born January 27, 1794,3 Provance born July 29, 1799,4 and Alford born December 4, 1801.5 Moses and Provance remained in Connellsville their entire lives. Alford lived in Kentucky a short time then settled in Randolph County, Illinois. George died after 1816.
